The Tuesday Night Ride for more than three decades has been one of the few disciplined & well choreographed training rides for Mid-Michigan racing cyclist. The ride emphasizes high average speeds and race finishing skills.

TNR Ride Summary for 3/30/2010

Tonight was sunny, temps in low sixties, we had thirty riders tonight! Season is off to a good start. Good luck to all the MSU Cycling Team racers in Marion this weekend!

Happenings for the week of 3/29/2010

Forecast: Implausibly the forecast for tomorrow is sunny and 60 for the 3rd Tuesday in a row, in March!

Ride Summary: Headcount from last Tuesday was 23 eclipsing the first ride @ 21. Interestingly the mix of riders last Tuesday was quite different than the previous week. Couple that with the fact that most of the ‘old guard’ of TNR has not had the opportunity to make it out yet, we might be looking at 30 strong soon. Whether 20 or 30, this size group accommodates a wide range of fitness and ability, so bottom line, come on out! Unlike a race, sitting in here is acceptable. We want everyone to feel comfortable and you will get stronger every week by taking part and learn a lot about cycling! Rhone, great to have you back out for the rides, congrats on FL triathlon overall win! Adam, great to have you back, our gain!

Racing season has started: No results from Waterford or Ann Arbor that I can find, but I know a few headed over for the training series. Barry Roubaix took place Saturday, great weather, over 700 people, 3.5 hours, 65 miles, 5000 feet of climbing, just an amazing event. Wade, Cameron, Doug, Fast Freddie and Craig (that I saw) were all there.

MBRA posting

Joe Lekovish from the MBRA has agreed to post our ride on the MBRA site! I made the submission today.

Our mission

The Mason Michigan 'Thursday night ride' or the (aka Funtyme) for more than a decade has been one of the few disciplined well choregraphed training ride around for local and visiting MASS START racing cyclist to attend. Unfortunately, attendance has been poor over the past two years. One reason for this is the Thursday ride is so intense that most cyclist can not attend it and effectively recover for weekend races. We are currently moving the Thursday ride to Tuesday in an attempt to increase participation. This blog functions to inform cyclists of these changes and any additional happenings with our 'Tuesday Night World Championships'.

The Tuesday Night Worlds is a 40 mile loop, high quality road bicycle training ride around Mason Michigan, over flat and rolling terrain. The ride is a group pace line effort to simulate race speeds, which culminates in 5 sprints throughout the loop. After each sprint we regroup, recover briefly while spinning and repeat the fun. The benefit to RACERS is the chance to learn and practice high average speeds and race finishing skills. Speeds average 22-24 mph with lows of 16 mph and highs of 38 mph.

We hope you will come out for our first 'Tuesday' ride on March 16th 2010 at 6pm. We meet in Mason Michigan in the Church of Christ parking lot at the Southeast corner of College Rd and Cedar Rd. This first ride will be slightly shorter (30miles and 1.5 hours) to help us avoid getting stuck in the dark and will be no drop.
Our first ride will be Tuesday March 16th at 6:00 PM, we will abbreviate the ride so everyone can make it home before dark, we will go about 1:30. Everyone is welcome! No one gets dropped.
